Biography
I qualified in 1990 with a Bachelors Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in London. My early surgical training began after I gained a place on the University College and Middlesex Hospital rotation in central London. Subsequently I entered higher surgical training on the Wessex rotation. This involved several yearly attachments in hospitals based in the South of England including the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, Salisbury as well as two years working in specialist colorectal units in Bournemouth and Southampton. I also spent two years undertaking research into colorectal cancer at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, for which I was awarded the degree of Master of Surgery (MS) from the University of London.
I gained the specialist Intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in General and Colorectal Surgery in February 2003, and hold the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST), awarded by the Specialist Training Authority of the Medical Royal Colleges. In 2004 I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon within the East Kent NHS Trust, and live in Littlebourne, Canterbury. In January 2008 I was appointed as the Clinical Lead for Colorectal Surgery at Margate and Canterbury Hospitals.
