My Practice
I am a general surgeon with a laparoscopic and colorectal sub-specialty interest. I offer a broad range of general surgical procedures such as minimally invasive surgery for gallstones and abdominal hernias, as well as varicose vein surgery. My daily practice includes all aspects of colorectal disease, particularly bowel cancer, haemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel disease, rectal prolapse, faecal incontinence and pilonidal sinus disease. I undertake a weekly colonoscopy and gastroscopy clinic at the QEQM Hospital and a rapid access colorectal clinic at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital.
I have performed over 1000 Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies (removal of the gallbladder using keyhole surgery). If required, this can now be undertaken as a day case procedure (home same day) in most patients.
I also routinely provide the following procedures to suitable patients:
- Laparoscopic Colorectal Operations (i.e. bowel surgery through very small incisions, resulting in much faster post-operative recovery)
- Laparoscopic (Keyhole) Surgery for Inguinal and Incisional Hernias
- Stapled Haemorrhoidectomy (Procedure for Prolapse and Haemorrhoids - PPH), resulting in less post-operative pain and allowing patients earlier return to work
- Limberg Flap procedure for complex or unhealed pilonidal sinus disease
At the QEQM Hospital, a team of doctors consisting of a Specialist Registrar, two Senior House Officers and a pre-registration House Officer look after my patients under my direct and close supervision.
All patients under my care who are diagnosed with bowel cancer are discussed in detail at a weekly Multidisciplinary Team Meeting. Here, surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, specialist cancer nurses and other key staff come together to ensure optimal patient care pre and post operatively.
