My Practice

Mr Tsavellas is a very experienced general surgeon with a laparoscopic and colorectal sub-specialty interest. He offers a broad range of general surgical procedures such as keyhole surgery for gallstones and abdominal hernias, as well as varicose vein surgery. His daily practice includes all aspects of colorectal disease, particularly bowel cancer, haemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel disease, rectal prolapse, faecal incontinence and pilonidal sinus disease. He undertakes a rapid access colorectal clinic at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital every Monday and a colonoscopy and gastroscopy list at the QEQM Hospital every Friday.

He has performed several hundred Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies (removal of the gallbladder using keyhole surgery) including Single Incision Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgery. Gallbladder surgery can be routinely undertaken on a day case basis (home same day) in many patients.

Mr Tsavellas also offers the following procedures to suitable patients:

  • Laparoscopic Colorectal Operations (i.e. bowel surgery through very small incisions, resulting in less pain and a much faster post-operative recovery) View a Laparoscopic Colorectal Operation
  • Laparoscopic (Keyhole) Surgery for Inguinal, Umbilical and Incisional Hernias
  • Stapled Haemorrhoidectomy (Procedure for Prolapse and Haemorrhoids - PPH), resulting in less post-operative pain and allowing patients earlier return to work
  • Limberg (Rhomboid) Flap procedure for complex, severe or recurrent pilonidal sinus disease
All patients who are diagnosed with bowel cancer are discussed in detail at the weekly Multidisciplinary Team Meeting. Here, colorectal surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, specialist cancer nurses and other key staff come together to ensure optimal patient care pre and post operatively.
